The incident that sparked this controversy began while Donald Trump was aboard Air Force One on November 14, 2025.

During a question-and-answer session with reporters, Catherine Lucey, a reporter for Bloomberg, asked a sensitive question.

Lucey asked why Trump wouldn't release all the files related to Jeffrey Epstein, while alleging that there was nothing incriminating in the files.

In response, Trump pointed at Lucey and said, "Quiet. Quiet, piggy."

Donald Trump's 'quiet piggy' remarks immediately sparked a wave of widespread criticism from various groups.

Journalists and media commentators expressed disappointment and condemnation of the former president.

CNN senior anchor Jake Tapper bluntly called Trump's comments "disgusting and completely unacceptable."

Criticism also came from Elisa Lees Muñoz, executive director of the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF).

Muñoz stated that "appearance-based attacks are gendered attacks intended to silence female journalists."

This is Not the First Time for Donald Trump

During the 2016 presidential campaign, former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, who won the title at age 19 while Trump was a co-owner of the organization, claimed that Trump threatened to strip her of her title after she gained weight.

A few days after the "quiet piggy" incident, Trump engaged in another similar confrontation.

He called ABC News correspondent Mary Bruce a "bad reporter" and "ABC fake news" during a meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Furthermore, Trump even threatened to revoke ABC's broadcasting license, indicating an escalation in his responses to journalists' questions.
