The Return of an Iconic Variant with New Flavor

Next year will be a significant year for Coca-Cola Cherry fans, especially with the permanent return of Diet Cherry Coke.

This popular variant will be available nationwide in the United States in new, modern packaging, including 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans, without retailer exclusivity.

Previously, Diet Coke Cherry returned for a limited time in January 2025 at Kroger stores in the US and Costco in Canada, and in the UK through Tesco in October 2025, often with retro packaging.

Furthermore, The Coca-Cola Company will also introduce an exciting new flavor: Coca-Cola Cherry Float.

This flavor is scheduled to debut in February 2026 and will be available for a limited time.

Coca-Cola Cherry Float combines the classic Coca-Cola flavor with a nostalgic combination of cherry and creamy vanilla, reminiscent of old-school sodas.

The new Coca-Cola Cherry Float will be available in regular and zero sugar options.

The beverage will be available in various sizes, including single 20-ounce bottles, 12-ounce cans in 12-packs, and individual 7.5-ounce mini cans at gas stations and convenience stores starting in April 2026.

The Long History of Coca-Cola Cherry

Coca-Cola Cherry, originally known as Cherry Coke, is a cola drink with a distinctive cherry flavor.

Long before its official launch in 1985, many establishments, such as restaurants and movie theaters, served unofficial versions by adding cherry syrup to regular Coca-Cola.

The Coca-Cola Company first tested its official cherry-flavored version at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee.

After a series of tests in various markets, Cherry Coke finally entered mass production in the United States in the summer of 1985.

This made it the company's first widely distributed flavored cola, and the second product to expand the original Coca-Cola brand after Diet Coke in 1982.

In 2006, the drink's name was officially changed to Coca-Cola Cherry.

Since then, various zero-calorie variants have been introduced, including Diet Coke-based versions and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.

The international availability of Coca-Cola Cherry has also expanded, albeit with some changes and limited editions in countries such as Poland, Brazil, and Austria.

Other Variants and Availability

In addition to the main flavor, Coca-Cola also offers Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Cherry, a popular low-calorie alternative.

This variant was first introduced in February 2007 in the United States as Coca-Cola Cherry Zero and later expanded to international markets such as France, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Coca-Cola Cherry remains widely available in various global markets and can be found in major retailers like Walmart and Walgreens.

The beverage continues to offer the classic, refreshing combination of Coca-Cola flavor with a sweet, creamy cherry twist, making it a favorite choice for many consumers.

In January 2019, a new packaging design for Coca-Cola Cherry was introduced in the US as part of Coca-Cola's "One Brand" marketing campaign.

The packaging features the word "Coca-Cola" superimposed on a red disc with a cherry image below the text, while the background color of the can or bottle remains purple.
