Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes' X account was reportedly hacked on Sunday evening local time (GMT).
This incident happened just hours after Manchester United suffered a bitter defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in an FA Cup match.
The 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford was a major blow for Manchester United, ending their hopes of winning a trophy in the 2025-2026 season.

Amidst this frustration, Bruno Fernandes' account posted a series of messages that sparked a stir on social media.
Posts from Fernandes' account included cryptocurrency-related claims, wage complaints, harsh criticism of Manchester United's situation, and calls for the removal of INEOS, the company that now owns the club.
The hackers also tagged several public figures and even posted images of United's humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool in 2023.
Manchester United confirmed the hacking incident and urged fans not to interact with the posts.

Bruno Fernandes' X Account Hacked After Manchester United Defeat
The hacking incident of Bruno Fernandes' X account occurred on Sunday evening GMT (Monday morning WIB), January 12, 2026.
This incident happened very close to Manchester United's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.
The FA Cup third-round match ended 2-1 in Brighton's favor, eliminating Manchester United from the competition.
This defeat was particularly unfortunate as the FA Cup was the club's only remaining chance of winning a trophy in the 2025-2026 season, adding to the deep disappointment among fans.
Fernandes' X account, which was notoriously inactive on the platform, suddenly showed unusual activity around 11 p.m. GMT.
Fernandes' last post before the incident was recorded the previous October, when he celebrated his 300th appearance for Manchester United.

Controversial Post Content by Hacker
The hacker who took control of Bruno Fernandes' X account posted a variety of highly unusual and controversial messages.
The activity began with messages related to cryptocurrency, including claims about the launch of a new digital token.
Furthermore, a later-deleted post stated, "This is why I need to be paid more," suggesting a personal grievance unlikely from a team captain.
The messages then shifted focus to Manchester United's internal situation, with one posting reading, "Man Utd are in the dumps [at the moment]."
One of the most shocking posts was the call, "Let's get rid of INEOS," which directly targeted Sir Jim Ratcliffe's company, which has part ownership of the club.
The hacker also tagged several public figures irrelevant to Bruno Fernandes, such as adult film star Bonnie Blue, the England cricket team, YouTuber KSI, and world darts champion Luke Littler.
The culmination of these provocative posts was an image of Manchester United's humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool in 2023.
The hacker even interacted directly with fans and players, including a sarcastic response to young United prospect Shea Lacey, who had previously apologized publicly after being sent off against Brighton.
Manchester United's Quick Response

In response to this hacking incident, Manchester United took immediate action.
The club confirmed the incident via their official account on the platform X, confirming that Bruno Fernandes' account had been hacked by an irresponsible party.
Manchester United also issued an important warning to its fans, asking them not to interact with any posts or direct messages originating from Fernandes' account during the hacking period.
The club confirmed that all posts from Bruno Fernandes' account during the incident did not originate from the player.
The incident comes amid growing fan frustration with the Glazer family and INEOS, the club's owners, and follows the sacking of manager Ruben Amorim, which has yet to significantly impact the team's performance.
Account hacking is nothing new in football; in 2024, Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé also experienced a similar hack.
