Behind-the-Scenes Challenges

The production of "Melania" has not been without controversy, particularly regarding the involvement of director Brett Ratner.

The film marks his first project since being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in 2017, leading to his temporary exile from Hollywood.

Amazon's purchase of the film rights for such a high price also raised questions among the public and industry insiders.

Some questioned whether the acquisition was an attempt by Amazon to curry favor with the new administration.

Furthermore, Melania Trump's complete editorial control over a film about herself, while still serving as First Lady.

Initial reports indicated sluggish ticket sales, with some theaters reporting few seats sold for the opening weekend.

The film's trailer, released on December 17, 2025, featured Melania Trump endorsing Donald Trump's statements about being a "peacemaker and unifier."
