The hoax about Bad Bunny burning the United States flag began circulating on social media around February 7th and 8th, 2026.

The fake image was initially shared via a post on a Facebook page called "Qbanguy," whose bio stated that they only posted satirical content.

From there, the hoax quickly spread to other platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Reddit, with some posts reaching millions of views.

Further investigation by USA Today confirmed that the image bore a SynthID watermark, a clear indicator that the visual was generated using artificial intelligence.

The viral image featuring Bad Bunny shows him wearing a pink, white, and blue dress, holding a burning United States flag.

However, a closer inspection of the image reveals classic signs of generative AI-generated visuals, one notable feature is that the visible fire does not realistically illuminate or deform the surrounding fabric.

Furthermore, the edges of the flag appear blurred and blend into the background, while the lighting on the subject appears contradictory.

Bad Bunny's hands and the creases in his clothing also exhibit a "melted" texture often found in machine-generated images.

There are no wire shots, credible news reports, or rehearsal clips showing the flag-burning incident.
