The studio has confirmed the return of its two main stars, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, for the highly anticipated fourth film.

The return of Fraser as Rick O'Connell and Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell marks their first reunion in the franchise in over two decades, as Weisz was not involved in the third film.
This project is not a reboot, but rather a sequel that will ignore the events of the third film, 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008).

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's Iconic Reunion
Fraser will reprise his iconic character, Rick O'Connell, a brave adventurer who is constantly in danger.
Meanwhile, Rachel Weisz will return as Evelyn O'Connell, a brilliant Egyptologist and Rick's partner.
This reunion is especially significant because Weisz did not appear in the third film, 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008), where she was replaced by Maria Bello.
More than 25 years after the first film's release, the return of the lead duo is expected to restore the chemistry and charm that has become the hallmark of The Mummy franchise.

The Creative Team Behind the New Mummy
The fourth installment of The Mummy will be directed by Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
The duo are known for their successful revival of the 'Scream' franchise and the horror-comedy 'Ready or Not,' showcasing their ability to blend suspense and entertainment.
The screenplay will be written by David Coggeshall, who has previously worked on projects such as 'The Family Plan' and 'Orphan: First Kill.'
Coggeshall's appointment is expected to bring a fresh narrative while remaining true to the spirit of adventure that The Mummy is known for.
Sean Daniel, the producer who has produced all previous films in this installment of The Mummy franchise, will return to the production helm.
He will be joined by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
Brendan Fraser himself will also serve as executive producer, along with Jason F. Brown and Denis Stewart of Hivemind.
Plot Remains Under Wraps
While plot details for the latest The Mummy film remain under wraps, inside sources indicate that the project will not be a reboot.
Instead, it will be a direct sequel that will intentionally ignore the events of 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' (2008), allowing for a more cohesive storyline with the first two films.
The first film was a box office success, grossing $422.5 million worldwide, followed by 'The Mummy Returns' (2001), which also grossed $435 million.
The Mummy franchise has collectively earned $1.8 billion for Universal, although a 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise was deemed a commercial failure despite grossing over $400 million.
