Shia LaBeouf Arrested in New Orleans During Mardi Gras, Faces Assault Charges?

LaBeouf now faces two counts of simple battery for the incident.

The incident involving the 39-year-old actor reportedly occurred around 12:45 a.m. local time on Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

New Orleans police received a report of a disturbance involving LaBeouf at a business in the area.

The incident comes after LaBeouf reportedly spent the long weekend partying in New Orleans.

According to police reports, the incident began when Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a bar on Royal Street.

A bar staff member then attempted to remove him from the establishment while LaBeouf allegedly attempted to punch the bar staff member.

After being ejected, he reportedly punched a male customer who was assisting the bar manager.

LaBeouf then returned to the scene and allegedly punched a second man in the nose.

Videos circulating, one of which was obtained by TMZ, show LaBeouf shirtless and engaged in a heated discussion with a group of people near a New Orleans street corner.

Other videos also show LaBeouf receiving medical treatment from paramedics and then being transported to an ambulance, indicating that he also suffered injuries.

Following the incident, Shia LaBeouf was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

After receiving medical attention and being released from the hospital, he was formally arrested and charged with two counts of simple assault.

That same day, the actor was ordered released on personal recognizance bond.

This means he can be released from custody without paying any cash, with the promise of a future court appearance.

The next hearing in Shia LaBeouf's case has been tentatively scheduled for March 19th.

This arrest in New Orleans is not Shia LaBeouf's first run-in with the law.

He has a long history of legal troubles and struggles with addiction and mental health that have frequently received media attention.

LaBeouf was previously arrested in July 2017 in Savannah, Georgia, for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

In 2020, musician FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf alleging sexual assault, battery, and infliction of emotional distress.

The case was ultimately settled in July 2025, although details of the settlement were not widely publicized.

A bartender who served LaBeouf the previous Thursday during Mardi Gras celebrations even stated that LaBeouf was “terrorizing the town” with his behavior.
