A spokesperson for Dr. Peter Attia explained that the resignation was made to ensure his involvement would not be a "distraction from the important work being done at CBS."

Documents related to Jeffrey Epstein were released by the U.S. Department of Justice in late January 2026.
The release of these documents shed light on the communications of numerous individuals with Epstein.
Dr. Peter Attia's name appears more than 1,700 times in the documents, a volume that immediately attracted widespread public attention.

Dr. Peter Attia also stated that he met Epstein approximately seven or eight times at Epstein's New York City mansion between 2014 and 2019.
After the documents came to light, Dr. Peter Attia posted a lengthy apology on social media.
He acknowledged that some of his emails were "shameful, tasteless, and indefensible."
However, Dr. Peter Attia clarified that he was "not involved in any criminal activity."
He also asserted that his interactions with Epstein had "nothing to do with the sexual abuse or exploitation of anyone."
