Blueberry Recall Listeria: 60,000 Pounds of Frozen Fruit Pulled from Store

This recall is due to potential contamination with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious and potentially fatal illness.

This blueberry recall involves approximately 55,689 pounds (approximately 25,260 kg) to nearly 60,000 pounds of individual quick-frozen (IQF) blueberries.

These products were distributed to several states in the United States, including Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, and Canada, but were not sold directly to retail consumers.

The initial voluntary recall began on February 12, 2026.

However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) subsequently upgraded the recall classification to Class I on February 24, 2026, the most serious risk level.

“Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) is a type of disease-causing bacteria that can be found in many places,” the FDA says on its website, noting people who eat food with the bacteria “may develop a disease called listeriosis.”

The frozen blueberry products involved in this recall come in two primary formats.

The first is a 30-pound (approximately 13.6 kg) corrugated box with a polyethylene liner inside, while the second is a 1,400-pound (approximately 635 kg) industrial tote, also with a polyethylene liner.

The total weight of the recalled product is approximately 55,689 pounds, although some reports place the figure closer to 60,000 pounds.

This recall is of serious concern due to the FDA's Class I classification, which indicates the highest health risk.

These frozen blueberries were distributed in bulk to food service operators and producers, rather than sold directly to consumers in retail stores.

For a 30 pound box:

• Lot 2055 B2: Expiration/Best before date: July 23, 2027.

• Lot 2065 B3: Expiration/Best before date: July 24, 2027.

For 1,400-pound totes:

• Lot 3305 A1: Expiration/Best before date: November 25, 2027.
• Lot 3305 B1: Expiration/Best before date: November 25, 2027.
