"Big Mistakes" follows Nicky (Dan Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two brothers from New Jersey who find themselves entangled in a difficult situation.

Nicky is a neurotic but well-liked pastor at his local Glenview church, who, despite being gay, is required to remain celibate according to his denomination.

However, he is secretly in a relationship with Tareq (Jacob Gutierrez), who urges him to find a more progressive congregation.

Meanwhile, Morgan, a self-destructive elementary school teacher, rekindles her romance with her high school boyfriend, Max (Jack Innanen), after her dreams of stardom in New York are dashed.

The turning point in the story comes when their mother, Linda (Laurie Metcalf), asks them to buy a necklace for her dying grandmother.

Morgan's impulsive theft of a diamond necklace from the store after Yusuf (Boran Kuzum) refuses to sell it sets the stage for all the chaos.

As a result, Nicky and Morgan are forced to work for dangerous individuals, turning them into the most disorganized duo in organized crime.

Dan Levy leads the cast as Nicky, a complex pastor with a personal dilemma.
