Netflix Officially Removes All 26 James Bond Films, Here's Why!

This decision was not without reason, but rather a consequence of the expiration of a short-term licensing agreement between Netflix and Amazon MGM Studios.

Previously, these films had been available on Netflix since mid-January 2026, following the licensing agreement's announcement in December 2025.

The latest film in the long-running franchise was released five years ago, ending an era for one of the most prolific action movie stars of the 21st century.

The removal of the James Bond film collection from Netflix in April 2026 was due to several key factors related to the dynamics of the media industry.

One of the most significant reasons is Amazon's acquisition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in 2022.

This $8.5 billion acquisition effectively makes Prime Video the permanent streaming home for the entire 007 franchise.

As such, the streaming rights to the James Bond films are now fully under Amazon's control.

Although Amazon holds exclusive rights, Amazon MGM Studios occasionally licenses the James Bond catalog to other streaming services like Netflix for short periods.

Netflix itself paid for these short-lived exclusive licensing deals in early 2026, which then expire in April 2026, forcing the films to be withdrawn.

The 26 James Bond films removed include all 25 official Eon Productions films and 'Never Say Never Again' (1983).

Following the removal from Netflix, James Bond fans needn't worry, as there are still several alternatives to enjoy the secret agent's films.

The James Bond films will likely be available again on Prime Video and/or MGM+, given that Amazon owns MGM Studios.

In the UK, all five James Bond films starring Daniel Craig will be available on Prime Video starting in April 2026, and several classic Bond films can also be streamed for free on ITVX.

Generally, Bond films are often available on Prime Video in October and November each year, and then in the "Live TV" section of the Prime app until January.

Another, more permanent option is to purchase or rent these films digitally through platforms like Apple TV, Amazon Video, YouTube, and Fandango at Home.

Purchasing physical copies on Blu-ray is the best option for owning a collection of James Bond films without the restrictions of streaming licenses.
