Walmart Officially Recalls 50,000 FitRx Dumbbells After Injuries Reported

Walmart is recalling approximately 50,000 FitRx adjustable dumbbells in the US because they pose a serious injury hazard to users.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Retail giant Walmart announced the recall of approximately 50,000 FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5-52.5 lb. Adjustable Dumbbells across the United States.

This urgent notice was issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on April 23, 2026, urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products.

Incidents of detaching weight plates have been reported more than 115 , with at least six confirmed cases of injury.

Injuries include broken toes, bruises, contusions, and lacerations.

The recalled dumbbells were previously sold in Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com between January and November 2024 for approximately $100.

The affected dumbbells were imported by New York-based Tzumi Electronics Inc. and manufactured in China.

Consumers who own this type of dumbbell are urged to discontinue use and immediately contact Tzumi Electronics for a free replacement.

Product Details and Identification of Recalled Walmart Dumbbells

This recall specifically targets the FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5-52.5 lb. Adjustable Dumbbells, model number 8361.

Affected serial numbers range from KK23288361 to KK23388361 and KK207608361 to KK21347836.

The dumbbell is black with red accents and comes with a molded plastic storage tray.

The "FitRx" logo can be found on the dumbbell handle and the storage tray.

For easy identification, the model number and product serial number are printed on the side of the unit's storage tray.

The dumbbells were sold in Walmart stores nationwide and through the Walmart.com online platform.

Sales lasted for almost a year, from January 2024 to November 2024, with an average selling price of approximately $100 per unit.

Reason for Recall and Injury Impact

The primary reason for Walmart's recall of the FitRx dumbbells is that the weight plates on the dumbbells can detach from the handles during use.

This creates a serious impact hazard, which could result in injury to the user or bystanders.

The CPSC has firmly stated that this design defect poses an unacceptable safety risk.

To date, the CPSC has received more than 115 incident reports involving plates detaching from the dumbbells.

Of these, at least six cases of injury have been confirmed. Reported injuries range from broken toes and bruises to contusions and lacerations.

Serious impact hazards can occur suddenly, without warning, so immediate preventative action is essential.
