Pepsi Launch Its Official Prebiotic Cola! Here's What to Know

PepsiCo has announced the launch of its first-ever prebiotic cola, introducing a major innovation to the traditional cola market

Liputan6.com, Jakarta PepsiCo has announced the launch of its first-ever prebiotic cola, introducing a major innovation to the traditional cola market as it aims to meet changing consumer preferences and tap into the surging demand for healthier, gut-friendly beverages.

Pepsi Prebiotic Cola is the next step for the iconic brand whose journey began in 1898 in New Bern, North Carolina.

Launching in Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla flavors, Pepsi Prebiotic Cola delivers the Pepsi-Cola taste consumers have loved for over 120 years; a reinvention of the traditional cola experience, reinforcing the brand's commitment to providing choice across its cola portfolio.

What to Know from the New Drink

According to the official site of PepsiCo, this recent innovation includes 5 grams of cane sugar, has 30 calories, and contains no artificial sweeteners.

It delivers the classic crisp, refreshing taste of Pepsi—with the added functional ingredient of 3 grams of prebiotic fiber.

"From the iconic blue can, to the consumer-preferred Pepsi Zero Sugar, our portfolio has always adapted to the needs and flavor preferences of the consumer," said Ram Krishnan, CEO, PepsiCo Beverages U.S.

"Pepsi Prebiotic Cola represents the next leap forward in giving consumers choice, optionality and functional ingredients in their cola experience, without sacrificing the iconic Pepsi taste we're known for delivering. We can't wait for the world to try the taste of Pepsi Prebiotic Cola for themselves!"

When and How to Get It?

Available in single 12-ounce cans for trial and eight-packs of 12-ounce cans, the new product will be available bold this fall and in retail stores in early 2026, on traditional carbonated soft drink shelves alongside Pepsi's full portfolio.

Pepsi Prebiotic Cola joins PepsiCo's extensive beverage portfolio, including the number one modern soda player, Poppi, following its acquisition earlier this year.

The introduction marks Pepsi’s largest innovation in 20 years within the cola category and is seen as a strategic bid to recapture youth and Gen Z consumers, who increasingly favor functional beverages and lower-sugar alternatives over traditional sodas.

Poppi Acquisition

This move follows PepsiCo’s high-profile acquisition of Poppi, a leading prebiotic soda brand, for nearly $2 billion earlier in 2025.

By launching Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, the company directly joins the growing category led by niche brands like Poppi and Olipop, and responds to recent moves by Coca-Cola, which has also debuted its own prebiotic soda line this year.

With this launch, Pepsi signals its commitment to a rapidly shifting beverage landscape, where functionality, lower sugar, and natural ingredients increasingly drive consumer choice.Â
