YouTube has released its annual Recap feature, summarizing your viewing activity throughout 2025. Discover your favorite channels, trends, and even your viewing personality type!

Liputan6.com, Jakarta YouTube has officially launched its innovative new feature, "YouTube Recap," which will summarize users' viewing activity throughout the year.

This personalized feature is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of video viewing habits, highlighting users' favorite channels, topics of interest, and trends throughout 2025.

YouTube Recap will launch on December 2, 2025, exclusively for users in North America.

The feature will then expand globally to the rest of the world within one week of its initial launch.

This initiative is YouTube's attempt to create a year-end engagement experience similar to the popularity of Spotify Wrapped, allowing users to see and share their content journeys.

Users can access the recap via the YouTube homepage, the "You" tab, or directly at youtube.com/recap.

What is YouTube Recap and How to Access It

YouTube Recap is an annual feature that provides a highly personalized summary of each user's viewing activity.

This feature aims to outline video content consumption habits, including the most frequently visited channels and most searched topics throughout the year.

Users can easily find their YouTube Recap through several channels, one is through a special banner or card that appears on the YouTube homepage when the feature is available.

Another alternative is to navigate to the "You" tab within the YouTube app, on both mobile and desktop devices.

Contents and Watch Personality in YouTube Recap

Each YouTube Recap will feature up to 12 personalized cards, summarizing various aspects of a user's viewing habits.

These cards include information such as the top channels most frequently watched and the most dominant interests or content genres.

Furthermore, this feature also analyzes users' viewing patterns to show how these habits evolve throughout the year.

An interesting aspect is the determination of "personality types" based on viewing preferences, such as Adventurer, Skill Builder, Creative Spirit, Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, Connector, Philosopher, or Dreamer.

Personality types like Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector tend to be more common among YouTube users.

Meanwhile, Philosopher and Dreamer are categorized as rarer, indicating more specific and unique content preferences.

In addition to data summaries, users will also receive more fun and humorous rewards based on their viewing history.

Music Integration and YouTube Recap Requirements

For users who frequently listen to music on YouTube, the Recap feature will include special cards displaying Top Artists and Top Songs.

For more in-depth music data, including genres and podcasts, users can view it in the previously launched YouTube Music Recap app.

YouTube Music Recap even offers an AI-powered "Ask about your year" feature for more advanced listening habit analysis.

Sharing capabilities are also a focus, with Recap cards being saved and shared across social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, increasing user engagement.

The YouTube Recap development process involved nine rounds of feedback and the evaluation of over 50 concepts, with the team leveraging Gemini to analyze watch history patterns.

To receive Recaps, users must have a sufficient watch history; for example, a minimum of 10 hours of music listening between January 1st and November 10th for music recaps.

It's also important to note that watch history paused or set to auto-delete for more than three months will not be included, and Recaps are not available for "Made for Kids" content.
