Channing Tatum Undergoes Shoulder Surgery: Acknowledges Recovery Will Be Difficult

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Hollywood actor Channing Tatum recently announced that he had undergone surgery to repair a separated shoulder.

The "Magic Mike" star shared the news via a social media post, showing himself in the hospital and an X-ray of his shoulder.

The surgery took place on February 3, 2026, with Tatum posting the photo the following day, on February 4, 2026.

In his post, Tatum showed before-and-after X-rays, which showed his shoulder had been put back together with screws.

He acknowledged that the road to recovery would be challenging but expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge.

The news of the surgery immediately caught the attention of fans and fellow celebrities, given Tatum's history of injuries, as he frequently performs his own stunts.

This incident adds to the growing list of physical challenges the 45-year-old actor has faced.

Before undergoing surgery, Tatum posted a photo of himself in the hospital wearing a gown and a hood.

He also shared an X-ray of his shoulder, which showed two clearly dislocated bones, highlighting the seriousness of his injury.

Following surgery, Tatum shared another X-ray showing his shoulder successfully fused with screws.

He humorously captioned the post-surgery X-ray, "Screwed shoulder. Yay," above the post-surgery X-ray.Although the surgery went well, Tatum acknowledged that the recovery process would not be easy.

He wrote on Instagram, “Just another day. Another challenge. This one is gonna be hard. But whatever. Let’s get it in.”

Channing Tatum revealed that his injury is a separated shoulder.

This injury occurs when trauma, such as a fall or a strong impact, damages the ligaments around the acromioclavicular joint, where the collarbone meets the shoulder blade.

The ligament damage causes the bones to shift out of their normal position.

While Tatum did not directly reveal the cause of his injury, a source familiar with the incident told TMZ that he suffered the injury while skiing at Sundance.

Channing Tatum was in Sundance for the film festival, where two of his films, "Josephine" and "Nuisance Bear," won awards.

This shoulder injury isn't the first incident for Channing Tatum.

He previously suffered a leg injury while filming the Marvel film "Avengers: Doomsday" in London in September 2025.

The leg injury forced him to use a stunt double for many of the demanding action scenes, including a major fight with Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

Tatum revealed that recovery from the leg injury required months of intensive physical therapy.Regarding his injuries, Tatum once stated, "It's not about the pain I'm in right now. It's about knowing I can't take it back. And now I know what the next six months of my life are going to be like." He also added, "I just hate getting older. In my mind, I'm really still 30 — 26, if I'm being honest."
