Scoggin claimed Love "groomed" her for a sexual relationship, which led to her dismissal from the team in February 2022.
The University of Nebraska has defended its decision to remove Scoggin from the team, citing a breakdown in team culture and dishonesty, rather than the relationship itself.

Shocking Confessions by Former Assistant Coach
Chuck Love, a former assistant coach for the Nebraska women's basketball team, has finally admitted to having a sexual relationship with Ashley Scoggin.
This admission was revealed in a pre-trial deposition conducted on February 5, 2026.
This was Love's first official acknowledgement of the relationship after previously denying it and became public in April 2026, when federal court documents were released.
The documents were part of a lawsuit filed by Scoggin against the University of Nebraska and several athletic officials.
Scoggin's attorney, Maren Chaloupka, confirmed this admission in a court filing dated March 17, 2026.
Previously, in April 2024, Love had categorically denied allegations of a sexual relationship with Scoggin.

Ashley Scoggin's Background and Lawsuit
Ashley Scoggin filed a civil lawsuit in February 2024, targeting Love, the university's Board of Trustees, head coach Amy Williams, and former athletic director Trev Alberts, alleges that Scoggin's civil rights were seriously violated.
Scoggin, who played for the Cornhuskers from 2020 to 2022, accused Love of grooming her for a sexual relationship.
She claims the relationship escalated into a sexual relationship and that she feared retaliation if she refused.
Scoggin was dismissed from the team in February 2022, the same day Love was suspended with pay.
Love subsequently resigned three months after the suspension.
Case Developments and Parties Involved
Scoggin's lawsuit also reveals an incident at a hotel during a team trip in 2022.
A teammate reportedly entered Love's hotel room with a video camera and found Scoggin inside.
Love initially described Scoggin's presence as a professional meeting to discuss a personal matter, but his later testimony contradicted that claim.
Scoggin's legal team continued to develop its lawsuit, and in February 2026, they expanded it to include athletic administrator Keith Zimmer and Title IX coordinator Meagan Counley.
Scoggin is seeking a jury trial in Lincoln as well as unspecified damages.
After being dismissed from the Nebraska basketball team, Scoggin transferred to UNLV to complete his remaining college eligibility.
Other parties involved, such as Love's attorney, Denise Frost, have not yet commented.
