Arrest Details and Charges Faced
On May 6, 2026, Kodak Black voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement in Florida, a move his attorney described as a "coordinated surrender."
This surrender happened ed after an arrest warrant was issued for alleged drug trafficking.
He was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail, Florida, for further processing.
The rapper was formally charged with one felony count of trafficking MDMA.
This charge specifically specifies the amount of the drug involved, which is more than 10 grams but not exceeding 200 grams.
In the state of Florida, trafficking MDMA is a serious offense that carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of three years, potentially even life imprisonment, depending on the severity of the case and the amount of evidence recovered.
In response to the charges, Kapri, through his attorney, entered a written plea of not guilty on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and formally requested that his case be tried before a jury.

Chronology of the Incident Leading to the Arrest
Kodak Black's arrest stemmed from an incident that happened in November 2025 in Orlando.
At that time, police officers responded to a report of a shooting near the Children's Safety Village, a nonprofit organization located on Fairvilla Road in Orlando.
Upon arrival, officers found several individuals gathered around two luxury SUVs, one a Lamborghini and the other a BMW.
During the initial investigation, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana, which legally provided sufficient grounds to conduct a search of the vehicles.
During the search, officers recovered a pink bag containing approximately 25 milligrams of pills, tested positive for MDMA.
In addition to the narcotics, approximately $37,000 in cash and several documents bearing the name Bill Kahan Kapri were also found.
Strong Defense from Lawyers
Responding to the allegations against his client, Kodak Black's attorney, Bradford Cohen, denied the basis of the allegations.
Cohen described the arrest as a "coordinated surrender" rather than a sting operation, suggesting prior communication with authorities.
Cohen stated that Kodak Black was not in the vehicle at the time of the search, a crucial point that could weaken the possession argument.
He further claimed that no fingerprints of Kapri were found on the seized evidence, including the bag containing MDMA and cash.
This is a crucial argument in disproving Kapri's direct involvement in the drug possession.
Although investigators found a prescription cough syrup bottle with Kapri's fingerprints on it, Cohen argued that Kapri had the right to touch the bottle because it was his prescription.
The attorney argued that the case is legally insufficient to prosecute possession of the recovered evidence, calling the trafficking charge "a weak legal basis" that should never have been brought.
