Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Throughout its long history, Ferrari has built so many special cars that it has become a dream brand for petrolheads all over the world. Today, the Ferrari name is so powerful that even a regular Ferrari model feels special to most people. The limited edition models are deeply loved by collectors. But what makes things even more exciting is that the brand also creates one-off Ferrari cars, many of them made exclusively for their most valued clients.
These one-off Ferrari cars exist in a class of their own. Only one was ever made, and only one person in the world owns it. Here are nine of them that you may have never heard of.
1. Ferrari F12 TRS
Unveiled in 2014, the F12 TRS was actually built as two cars, both commissioned by the same client. Based on the F12 Berlinetta and its 6.3-litre V12, the roof was removed to create an open-top Barchetta body inspired by the classic 250 Testa Rossa of the 1950s. One was finished in red and the other originally in black, though the black one was later repainted in liquid silver.

2. Ferrari 458 MM Speciale
A wealthy British collector wanted something truly unique, so Ferrari built him the 458 MM Speciale in 2016. It starts as a 458 Speciale but gets a completely new body made from aluminium and carbon fibre. The design takes inspiration from the legendary 288 GTO. It was finished in pearl white with a tricolour stripe and a distinctive visor-like windscreen.
3. Ferrari SP12 EC
The "EC" in the name stands for Eric Clapton, the legendary British guitarist, who reportedly paid around four million dollars for this car. The SP12 EC is based on the Ferrari 458 Italia, but its design pays tribute to the classic Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer. Pininfarina worked hard to give it a completely different look, while keeping the same powerful 4.5-litre V8 engine underneath.

4. Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta
This gold-coloured open-top car has quite an unusual story. It was built for Edward Walson, the son of the man who invented cable TV, as a modern tribute to a Ferrari that appeared in Federico Fellini's 1968 film "Spirits of the Dead." Based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, it keeps the 6.0-litre V12 engine but wears a completely new roadster body designed by Pininfarina. The whole project took just 14 months from sketch to finished car.
5. Ferrari Fioravanti SP1
The SP1 holds a special place in history as the very first car to come out of Ferrari's Special Projects programme. It was commissioned by Japanese collector Junichiro Hiramatsu, who was a great admirer of designer Leonardo Fioravanti. The car is based on the Ferrari F430, but its body was completely restyled by Fioravanti himself, drawing inspiration from his own 1998 F100 concept car.

6. Ferrari SP3JC
John Collins, a well-known classic Ferrari dealer and fan of Pop Art, commissioned the SP3JC in 2018. Unusually, Ferrari built two versions: one right-hand drive finished in white with blue and yellow accents, and one left-hand drive in matte grey with white and red accents. Both are based on the F12tdf and share the same screaming naturally aspirated V12 engine.
7. Ferrari P80/C
Unlike most other Ferrari one-off cars that are built for the road, the P80/C is a track-only machine. Development started in 2015, making it the longest development period for any Ferrari one-off at the time. It is based on the Ferrari 488 GT3 race car rather than a road car, which gave the design team extra freedom to build something truly extreme. The styling draws inspiration from iconic 1960s racers such as the 330 P3/P4 and the Dino 206 S.

8. Ferrari KC23
Unveiled at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the KC23 is one of the most futuristic-looking Ferraris ever created. It was commissioned by one of Ferrari's most dedicated collectors and took over three years to design and build. Like the P80/C, it is also based on the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 race car, making it a track-only machine. Ferrari finished the car in a special four-layer "Gold Mercury" paint that changes its appearance depending on the lighting.
9. Ferrari P4/5
No list about one-off Ferrari cars would be complete without the legendary P4/5. American filmmaker James Glickenhaus bought the last unsold Ferrari Enzo and sent it to Pininfarina to be completely rebodied, drawing inspiration from Ferrari's iconic 1960s P-series racers. The result was so impressive that Luca di Montezemolo, the Ferrari president at that time, gave it an official Ferrari badge, making it the "Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina."
