The first trailer for The Social Reckoning features Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. The movie will highlights the 2021 Facebook leak.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The first trailer for the highly anticipated American biographical thriller, “The Social Reckoning,” was released on June 10, 2026, showcasing actor Jeremy Strong’s transformation as Facebook and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The film is a spiritual successor to “The Social Network” (2010), directed and written by Aaron Sorkin.

“The Social Reckoning” will transport audiences to the 2020s, focusing on the impact and consequences of Meta, particularly following the 2021 Facebook leak by whistleblower Frances Haugen.

Aaron Sorkin, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for “The Social Network,” this time takes on the dual role of writer and director.

“There isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it’s time to say more," he said.

Jeremy Strong's Transformation as Mark Zuckerberg

Jeremy Strong, best known for his role as Kendall Roy in the series "Succession," now plays Mark Zuckerberg, replacing Jesse Eisenberg, who played the character in the previous film.

In his performance, Strong has reportedly adopted the tech CEO's signature voice, mannerisms, and hairstyle, demonstrating a complete transformation.

In the trailer, Strong's Zuckerberg is portrayed as defiant, even referring to himself as a "professional defendant" in a scene resembling a mock trial.

He also declares himself a "free speech absolutist" when confronted by Bill Burr's character.

Uncovering the Impact and Meta Leaks

The core story of "The Social Reckoning" centers on the 2021 Facebook leaks conducted by whistleblower Frances Haugen.

The film's screenplay is based on the Wall Street Journal's extensive investigative series "The Facebook Files," which revealed how Facebook recognized the negative impacts of its platform, including the spread of misinformation and its impact on adolescent mental health.

Frances Haugen, a Facebook engineer, plays a central character who teams up with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to leak company secrets.

In addition to Jeremy Strong, the film also stars Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as Jeff Horwitz.
