This update marked the first large-scale content release since version 2.0 in November 2021, bringing a breath of fresh air to fans.
This update not only introduced substantial new features but also coincided with the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2nd Edition.
A variety of exciting features are now available, from building new hotel resorts to much-needed home storage upgrades.
Luxury Hotel Resort by the Kapp'n Family
A standout feature in the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing update 3.0 is the new hotel resort run by the Kapp'n family, located at the dock of the player's island.
Players can decorate the hotel's guest rooms according to a theme chosen by Leilani.
Once the rooms are decorated, guests will begin staying, offering unique dialogue, and providing a new way to meet villagers who don't live on your island.
Players can also earn a new currency called "Hotel Tickets," which can be used in the hotel's gift shop to purchase exclusive decorations.
Tom Nook will also assign players to craft specific DIY items to promote the island through boxes outside the hotel, which will generate more Hotel Tickets.
Increased Capacity and New Features
The 3.0 update also brings significant improvements to home storage capacity, which can now be expanded to up to 9,000 items.
This is great news for collectors and decorators, as players can now store more items without worrying about running out of space.
Furthermore, the home storage feature now allows players to store trees, shrubs, and flowers, providing greater flexibility in inventory management.
Another exciting new feature is "Slumber Islands," which allows players to create and decorate up to three custom dream islands.
Nintendo Switch Online members can even invite friends to help collaboratively edit these islands, enhancing the social experience.
Furthermore, Resetti now offers the incredibly useful "Resetti's Reset Service."
This service allows players to easily remove items, custom designs, and flowers from specific areas or even their entire island.
Improvements and Exciting Collaborations
Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing update 3.0 also introduces several long-awaited quality-of-life improvements.
One of these is the Bulk Crafting feature, where players can now craft up to 10 items at once if they have enough materials.
DIY materials stored in home storage can now be used immediately, eliminating the need to move them to the inventory.
The new DIY Recipes app now includes a page for checking hotel DIY requests and item requests from Tom Nook, making it easier to track tasks.
Nook Shopping items obtained from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp are now always available for ordering, and Super Mario Bros. items can also be ordered without linking a Nintendo Account.
A variety of exciting collaborations are also available, including classic Nintendo and LEGO items, as well as new amiibo items and characters from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon.
Other small but impactful features include the ability for characters to move while facing the same direction by holding the L button while outdoors.
Isabelle will now suggest recommended melodies when changing an island's song, and players can revert the island's flag to its original design.
Purchasing Customization Kits of up to 50 pieces at a time from Nook's Cranny and selling items like Snowflakes in drop-off boxes also adds convenience.
Pascal will now give Pearls for every seashell received, and Leif's weed removal service has been improved with a lower cost.
Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
For players who own the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, either as a paid upgrade or a standalone purchase, this update brings significant exclusive features.
This version includes stunning graphical improvements, with 4K resolution in docked mode.
Furthermore, mouse controls are now supported via Joy-Con 2, offering more precise control options for some players.
An in-game megaphone feature that uses the system's built-in microphone has also been added, allowing for more interactive communication.
Multiplayer mode has also been increased to support 12 players, expanding opportunities to socialize and play with friends on the island.
