Liputan6.com, Jakarta Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's farewell concert, "Back to the Beginning", not only went down as the biggest heavy metal concert in history, but also set the record for the biggest charity show.

The concert held at Villa Park, Birmingham, on July 5 raised more money than any other charity concert since George Harrison and Ravi Shankar's "Concert for Bangladesh" in 1971.

According to Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine guitarist and Musical Director for the show, US$190 million was raised and donated.

"We raised a lot of money for a good cause, and so many great musicians, bands and fans around the world paid tribute to the greatest musicians of all time," Morello wrote, quoting the upload statement, Thursday, July 17.

Meanwhile, proceeds from ticket sales to more than 40,000 spectators and 5.8 million online viewers were donated equally to Birmingham Children's Hospital, Acorn Children's Hospice, and Cure Parkinson's—an organization dedicated to finding a cure for the disease that Osbourne has been suffering from since 2019.

It is not yet clear how much each charity donated. However, each charity said they raised tens of thousands of pounds in additional donations through a raffle of tickets to the show, an auction of iconic artwork and band photos donated by Black Sabbath.

Additionally, there were individual contributions from fans who attended the concert, which took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on July 5.

For information, Ozzy Osbourne performed in two sessions for the farewell concert. As a soloist, he performed five songs, namely "I Don't Know", "Mr. Crowley", "Suicide Solution", "Mama, I'm Coming Home", and "Crazy Train".

While performing with early Black Sabbath personnel-Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward-Osbourne performed "War Pigs", "N.I.B.", "Iron Man", and "Paranoid".

The historic concert also featured many great musicians, including The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182, Pantera, Extreme, and many more.
