Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Real Madrid has reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea for the signing of left-back Marc Cucurella.
The transfer deal is reportedly worth up to €60 million, marking a significant step in Los Blancos' squad overhaul.
Cucurella's move to the Spanish giants is scheduled to be completed after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Currently, in June 2026, the 27-year-old is preparing for his national team's match against Cape Verde at the World Cup.
Although reports indicate the deal has been effectively completed, the final paperwork is expected to be finalized after the tournament, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid's decision to sign Cucurella is inextricably linked with the crucial role of José Mourinho, who was recently reappointed as manager.
Mourinho specifically identified Cucurella as an ideal target for the left-back position, in line with the club's ambition to return to glory after two trophyless years.

José Mourinho's Crucial Role in Acquisitions
José Mourinho is reportedly keen on signing Marc Cucurella, considering him the perfect left-back to strengthen his squad.
The acquisition of Cucurella is part of Real Madrid's comprehensive squad overhaul.
In addition to the Spanish left-back, Los Blancos have also successfully signed Dutch right-back Denzel Dumfries, center-back Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool after his contract expired, and Bernardo Silva, who arrived on a free transfer from Manchester City.
The club has also shown interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, although Chelsea are expected to demand over £100 million for the Argentine.

Career Journey and Challenges at Chelsea
Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella graduated from Barcelona's La Masia academy before embarking on a professional career.
He played for Getafe before joining Brighton.
In 2022, Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton for a transfer fee of around £62 million, or €63 million.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella made 150 appearances for Chelsea.
He also contributed to their Conference League and Club World Cup triumphs.
The player, who has a contract with Chelsea until 2028, had signed a contract extension with a salary increase the previous summer, although the duration of his contract remained the same.
Cucurella also criticized the Chelsea hierarchy during the March international break, claiming the team was paying for their "lack of experience" after their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Fierce Competition from Top European Clubs
Before Real Madrid's swift move to secure his signature, Marc Cucurella had been the target of several top European clubs.
The Spanish left-back had previously been linked with a move back to his homeland, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, his boyhood club, showing serious interest.
Furthermore, Premier League giants Manchester City had also shown interest in Cucurella.
However, Real Madrid's speed and determination in negotiations outpaced their competitors.
